This initiative drives national linguistic diplomacy forward by facilitating Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) programs worldwide. To handpick the most qualified professionals for this mission, the Language and Literature Empowerment Center has officially opened the 2025 Overseas BIPA Teacher Selection.
## General Eligibility Requirements for Applicants

* Institutional Approval: Must secure an official permission and recommendation letter from a direct supervisor (for applicants currently employed in public or private sectors).
* Independence: Must have no familial ties to members of the selection committee.
## Specific Requirements Based on Teaching Modality

Depending on the operational structure of the assignment, candidates must fulfill additional criteria tailored to either offline or online delivery formats.

1. Offline (In-Person) Teaching Modality
* Must not be currently enrolled in any formal education program.
* Must not be receiving any scholarship funding from the Indonesian government.
* Must not be bound by post-study service obligations or candidate-employee commitments during the assignment year.

2. Online (Virtual) Teaching Modality
* Must not be receiving any scholarship funding from the Indonesian government.

## Target Countries and Specific Criteria for 2025

The 2025 deployment spans numerous nations across the globe, each carrying unique academic and linguistic prerequisites.

* Austria (Offline): Minimum S-1 in language/literature for Indonesian Representative Office placements; minimum S-2 for university placements. German language skills are preferred.
* Bulgaria (Offline): Minimum S-2 in language/literature with expertise in traditional dance arts. Bulgarian language skills are an advantage.
* Canada (Offline): Minimum S-2 in language/literature, alongside advanced written and spoken English proficiency (minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 or IELTS score of 6.5).
* Myanmar (Offline): Minimum S-2 in Indonesian language and literature. Burmese language proficiency is preferred.
* Timor Leste (Offline): Minimum S-2 in language/literature, with prior experience in training BIPA instructors preferred.
* South Africa (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Office assignments; minimum S-2 for university assignments.
* Australia (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 for universities. Advanced English proficiency (TOEFL iBT min. 80 / IELTS min. 6.5) is mandatory.
* Philippines (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 for universities. Filipino language fluency is strongly preferred.
* India (Offline and/or Online): Advanced English proficiency required (TOEFL iBT min. 80 / IELTS min. 6.5).
* Italy (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 for universities. Must possess traditional musical arts skills (gamelan) and familiarity with Italian.
* Germany (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-2 in language/literature with a preference for German speakers.
* Cambodia (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 in Indonesian language and literature for universities. Khmer language skills preferred.
* Laos (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 in Indonesian language and literature for universities. Lao language proficiency and gamelan music skills are advantageous.
* Poland (Offline and/or Online): Proficiency in the Polish language is highly preferred.
* Thailand (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 for universities. Thai language skills are preferred.
* Tunisia (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-2 in language/literature with a strong preference for Arabic or French speakers.
* Uzbekistan (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-2 in language/literature with a preference for Uzbek or Russian speakers.
* Vietnam (Offline and/or Online): Minimum S-1 for Representative Offices; minimum S-2 in Indonesian language and literature for universities. Vietnamese language proficiency is preferred.
* Algeria (Online): Arabic language proficiency and prior experience teaching young BIPA learners are strongly prioritized.
* United States (Online): Advanced English writing and speaking skills (TOEFL iBT min. 80 or IELTS min. 6.5).
* Argentina (Online): Spanish language proficiency is an advantage.
* Belgium (Online): Preference given to speakers of French, Dutch, or German.
